MARSHALL FAMILY CEMETERY

Original Information from Volume 2 of the Gravestone Books

The Marshall Family Cemetery is located on the north side of Hampton Road at its intersection with Ox Road (Route 123) in Fairfax Station. There are a number of unmarked graves among the standing gravestones.

This one-acre cemetery is well maintained. The family member responsible for its upkeep was mowing the area at the time of the September 1994 survey. He said that the land had been a part of the farm of his ancestor, Simpson F. Marshall, who set aside this parcel for use as the Marshall Family Cemetery. Those who call it the Davis Family or the Davis/Marshall Family Cemetery are incorrect, he stated.

In 1955, a survey of the cemetery recorded gravestones for T. Thornton Marshall (1870-1951), Charlotte I. Marshall (1873- 19__), and Roy (?Ray) A. Marshall (1896-1939). The family member at the site confirmed that these burials had been removed to the cemetery at Pohick Episcopal Church in Lorton, Virginia.
