Schuyler Hamilton Jones (Historical Marker)

Schuyler Hamilton Jones
"Known to his friends as Sky and Shaggy, Schuylker was a gentle, giant, the tall guy (6'5") with shaggy hair. He was a rower on Alexandria's T.C. Williams High School Varsity, 8 and an amazing skateboarder who lived to play the guitar. He was smart, funny and popular. He touched many lives in many ways. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Schuylker Jones died in Market Square on the night of September 13, 2003, after being assaulted by boys his own age. He tried to avoid a violent confrontation and even though he was tall and strong, he refused to fight his attackers. He was 16 years old."

The Alexandria City Council named this skatepark after Schuyler Hamilton Jones in recognition of his love for skateboarding and for the role he played in making the skatepark a reality.
