Here follows an excerpt from the "Jaybird's Jottings" blog in 2010 as written by Jay Roberts:

Old Town Alexandria Commemorative Plaques:
Columbia Firehouse
109 S St Asaph

Several restaurants have enjoyed stays here, including Portner’s and Bookbinders. The Neighborhood Restaurant Group, highly successful with places such as Vermilion and Rustico, opened up a new restaurant last year. The brasserie is popular, with enclosed outdoor dining a nice touch. The restaurant is named after the Columbia Steam Engine Company, which built the place in 1883.
