Pope's Head Schoolhouse

Here follows a history of the school as published on the Fairfax County Public Schools website:

The Pope's Head School located on Pope's Head Road at Ladue Lane was built around 1883. Pictured here is a register book used from 1899 to 1901 by Pope's Head teachers Thomas Garnett and George Malcolm in which they recorded the school's daily program of studies, pupil list, and attendance log. The Pope's Head school closed in 1930 and the property was sold to B.C. Shelton, who converted it into a dwelling. The former schoolhouse was destroyed by fire in 2018.
