Here follows a history of the school as published on the Fairfax County Public Schools website:

Black children living in this vicinity attended a separate school, called the Pearson School, which was located on Burke Lake Road about 100 yards east of Windward Drive. Children from as far away as the Sideburn community on Zion Drive walked to and from the Pearson School daily.
