Here follows a history of the school as published on the Fairfax County Public Schools website:
The Ox Road School, also known as the Ox Road Academy, was located about 1,000 yards north of the intersection of Hampton Road and Route 123. The schoolhouse site became part of the southbound lanes of Route 123 when the road was widened in the early 2000s. Built around 1884 to replace the Rotchford School, Ox Road was originally a one-room structure and was expanded to two rooms prior to 1904. In 1917, the Ox Road School was featured in Electric Vehicles Magazine, which published a driving tour route through Fairfax County for automobile enthusiasts. The picture shown here, taken during the survey of the tour route, was published in the Evening Star newspaper in 1916.
