HALL FAMILY CEMETERY
A small knoll between 7014 and 7016 Galgate Drive
Springfield, Virginia USA
Original Information from Volume 2 of the Gravestone Books
A small knoll between 7014 and 7016 Galgate Drive in the midst of a subdivision in Springfield is all that remains of this Hall Family Cemetery. According to Albert Deavers, a Hall family descendant and a neighborhood resident, this is the final resting place of Isaac Hall and his family. Growing up in the area in the 1930s, Mr. Deavers remembers playing near the cemetery. To a young boy, Isaac Hall’s gravestone “seemed huge, about six feet tall.”
It is said that the developer of the subdivision removed the gravestones at the time of construction. Because the surrounding homes are at a much lower elevation and mature trees are growing on and near the knoll, it appears that the cemetery grounds are intact and at the original elevation.
In 1989, the surveyor found one rough concrete marker in a small grove of locust trees. Although the trees remain, the marker is gone. The cemetery is very well maintained by the neighbors who enjoy the privacy and beauty the cemetery affords.
