IONES FAMILY CEMETERY
Behind 5943 Innisvale Road
Fairfax Station, Virginia USA
Original Information from Volume 2 of the Gravestone Books
A three-foot marble cross and two footstones stand in the woods beneath an old oak tree measuring four feet in diameter behind the house at 5943 Innisvale Road in the Oakbrook area of Fairfax Station.
The cemetery is located on land which was once Hope Park Estate, according to a 1969 Historic American Buildings Survey, and the old house, originally the home of George Deneale, still stands at 11800 Fairfax Station Road. Robert Iones bought the estate sometime after 1852, according to the survey, and its name became Innisvale.
To access the cemetery, go around to the left of the house. There is a path into the woods from the backyard. Proceed straight back about 50 yards from the house to the cemetery. An old fencepost next to the gravestone may be a part of an old cemetery fence. Periwinkle covers the ground nearby.
