Here follows an excerpt from the "Jaybird's Jottings" blog in 2010 as written by Jay Roberts:
Old Town Alexandria Commemorative Plaques:
International Children’s Building
699 Prince
Unfortunately, there is a great and continuing need for the work done here. Since September 1999, the Charles B. Wang International Children's Building has been the home of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and the World Headquarters of the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children.
These unsung heroes work quietly. Their mission is to serve as a “focal point in providing assistance to parents, children, law enforcement, schools and the community in recovering missing children and raising public awareness about child safety.”
If you have a need in this area, don’t hesitate to visit their website (Missing Children), call the toll free number (1-800-THE-LOST, 1-800-843-5678), or even stop and visit their location at the corner of S. Washington and Prince Street.
