George Washington Masonic National Memorial has been designated a National Historic Landmark
This site possesses national significance in commemorating the history of the United States of America.
Built from 1922-1932 to symbolize George Washington's character and virtue, this memorial stands among the most architecturally significant projects to honor Washington. The firm of Helme & Corbett created an unconventional form by blending a modern 1920s skyscraper shape with neoclassical monument design. The memorial represented a Joint National Initiative of Freemasons.
Erected 2015 by National Park Service, United State Department of the Interior.
