Alexandria and Fredericksburg Railroad (Historical Marker)

Here follows the inscription written on this roadside historical marker:

The rails embedded in the brick sidewalk along this block of Fayette Street come from the Alexandria and Fredericksburg Railroad. Chartered in 1864 and completed to Quantico by 1872, this rail line ran in the street and spurred industrial growth in this part of town. Reuse of the rails in the sidewalk resulted from the 2012 redevelopment of the property.
